Welcome
I remember the first time I became interested in Pigeons in general. I was living on the then new estate called Langley, near Middleton. I found a Black pigeon that had been injured. It had a ring on it's leg and it was an Irish ring. I was living in a foster home at the time, and the owner built me a small dove cote type of pigeon house attached to the side of a concrete shed, that became home to that first pigeon. Another pigeon was obtained from a friend of the home owner. As I progressed and got more information it led to trips on the bus to Tib street and Shudehill Market in Manchester on a Saturday morning. More pigeons were added to this small dovecote, and eventually there were probably too many. One morning I came out to feed the pigeons and it was obvious that something was wrong, blood and feathers on the floor , and carnage inside the cote, the result of a visit by a cat. That was the end of me keeping pigeons at the home.
After a gap when I was in my teenage years, in which I was more interested in the other type of non -feathered bird, I got married and started a family of my own. It was at this point I again became more interested in racing pigeons. so the loft was erected , all the equipment purchased, a club joined , birds purchased, and all the work associated with racing pigeons was started. At this time I was racing in the local club and federation. I was really only ever interested in the long distance racing pigeon. One of my first places I purchased pigeons from was in Yorkshire. I read about the pigeons in Squills. The person I went to buy them from I had read up on, and he was called Ernest Kinsey and he was based in Doncaster. I went up to see him with my family and he made us most welcome. He showed me around his race loft, a loft that was not a typical traditional race loft, as it was built on the front of a type of cave dwelling, and the birds looked in great condition. I came away with a pair of good pigeons which Ernie had recommended. I never looked back, these pigeons scored instantly at all distances. They were off the old Warrington strain.I still have all the winning cards to date.Over the years I went from strength to strength in Long distance racing.
I have won top positions with my pigeons in the long distance races in both Club, Fed, and National races.. I have had good results in shows also, which I went to for the usual chat, beer, and sales that followed.I have had a lot of advice from experienced Long Distance pigeon racing specialist's both at home and abroad, as far away as Australia. At present I am fortunate enough to have family who live in Belgium. Through them I have met top Racing Pigeon fanciers from both the short distance and the Long Distance extremes of the sport in Belgium and Holland. I have purchased the Long Distance Racing pigeons I now advertise on this site directly from Belgium and Holland . Most of my best results racing were from direct purchases in Belgium and Holland.
At the moment I am not racing pigeons myself. I want to concentrate on breeding some top quality young pigeons to sell at a decent price to the fancy. And I hope that someone , somewhere in the sport will purchase these youngsters from me and win with them . My pleasure will be in the breeding process for now , Good top quality feeding, clean lofts, and all the preventative measures will be adhered to. Quality not quantity, limited breeding, youngsters direct of the imported pigeons, your own rings if required, just a good , honest , quality breeding stud. Browse the site and see the breeding for yourself, a personal service is assured for genuine inquiries.
